Unless stated below, white distilled
vinegar is used.

Health
& Beauty Uses
To remove hairspray and
other product buildups from your hair, massage one
ounce of full
strength vinegar into hair and leave on for about 20 minutes.
Rinse
with warm water. Then shampoo and rinse your hair as usual.
Dip your toothbrush into
vinegar when you brush your teeth. It helps to
sterilize the
toothbrush, whiten your teeth & freshen your breath.
Remove berry stains from
hands with vinegar.
Combine two raw eggs, a
tablespoon of vinegar and black pepper.
Blend well. This cures a
hangover.
Apply ice cold vinegar
right away for fast relief of sunburn or other minor burns.
It will
help prevent burn blisters.
Drinking apple cider
vinegar mixed with cold water will help you lose weight.
The vinegar
helps to burn fat.
Soak your fingernails in
vinegar for 20 minutes two times a week to strengthen them.
They will
grow longer a lot faster than normal.
To remove a corn or callus
soak a piece of stale bread in vinegar and
tape it to your corn or
callus overnight.
When children get head
lice apply warm vinegar on the hair.
Dip the nit comb in vinegar. When
you take the comb through the hair
it helps remove the nits. Vinegar
helps break down the glue from the nits.
Use vinegar as an
antiseptic for abrasions.
Apply vinegar to help
reduce itch from poison ivy or mosquito bites.
Use vinegar to help
rehydrate sunburned skin & reduce peeling.
One teaspoon to one
tablespoon of vinegar gets rid of hiccups.
Use 2 cups of cider
vinegar in the tub to soak sore muscles and add potassium to muscles.
USe equal amounts of honey
and cider vinegar & mix until dissolved.
Take a tablespoon at a
time to cut mucuous in the throat.
Unknown as to how often this is
advisable.
Soak your feet with equal
parts of water & vinegar to get rid of athletes foot fungus.
Do
this nightly until it clears up.
It changes the PH in your skin and
causes the fungus to die out.
Drink a couple of
spoonfuls a day to keep mosquitoes away.
Use as an aftershave to
reduce shave bumps.
Clean your eyeglasses with
equal parts of vinegar and water to get rid
of spots, reduce lint,
buildup of hair spray, etc.

Kitchen Uses
Mix some vinegar with
salt. It will clean dishes, pots, glasses, windows, brass, copper,
bronze, pans, skillets. Rinse well with warm water.
Add vinegar to warm water
and soak your tea kettle overnight.
It will remove the lime deposits.
This will also work on your glass coffee pot.
Put 3 ounces of vinegar
in the pot and fill rest with warm water.
Dampen a cloth with
vinegar and wipe counters, canisters and other
containers to keep them
smelling fresh and clean.
When boiling meat, add a
spoonful of vinegar to the water to make it more tender.
Marinate tough meat in
vinegar overnight to tenderize.
Pour undiluted vinegar in
coffee maker. Run through like you are brewing coffee.
Let cool and run
through again if your coffee maker is full of sediment.
When done, run
plain water through to rinse a few times.
Boil vinegar and water in
pots to remove stains.
Add 1 teaspoon vinegar to
cooking water for fluffier rice.
Rub vinegar on the cut end
of uncooked ham to prevent mold.
It will not change the taste of your
ham.
Clean jars with vinegar
and water to remove odor.
Prevent discoloration of
peeled potatoes by adding a few drops of vinegar to water.
They will
keep fresh for days in the refrigerator.
When boiling eggs, add a
tablespoon of vinegar to the water to prevent white from leaking out of
a cracked egg and also to keep the yolk in the center of the egg.
Wipe jars of preserves and
canned food with vinegar to prevent mold-producing bacteria.
Use vinegar instead of
lemon on fried and broiled foods. It gives it a tangy flavor.
Use vinegar and salt as a
paste on tarnished copper to clean up the stains.
Pour 1/4 cup vinegar in
your sink with the dish soap & wash your dishes.
Make sure the
water is warm and not hot. This helps remove stains and germs.
Use 1/4 cup of vinegar to
the water you soak beans in overnight.
It helps to reduce the gas
forming agents in the beans.
Rinse your raw meats with
equal parts vinegar and water
prior to cooking to reduce bacteria.
You can substitue one
tablespoon of vinegar for one egg in baking dishes.
This is very useful
when baking for someone who is allergic to eggs.
It does not alter the
taste.

Cleaning &
Laundry Uses
Clean fireplace bricks
with undiluted vinegar.
Place small containers of
vinegar all around the house to take out cigarette smoke smell. Or wave
a cloth you soaked in vinegar around the house to clean the air odors.
Use 1 teaspoon baking
soda, 1 tablespoon vinegar and 2 cups of water.
Once it stops foaming
and fizzing, mix well and
use from a spray bottle all over the house to
freshen the air.
To eliminate mildew, dust
and odors, wipe down walls with vinegar-soaked cloth.
Add vinegar to laundry
rinse water. This will remove all soap and prevent yellowing.
Clean windows with vinegar
and water.
Use as you would liquid
fabric softener to reduce static cling and soften clothes.
For stains caused by
grass, coffee, tea, fruits and berries try
soaking the clothing in full
strength vinegar.
Soak cloth diapers in a
diaper pail of 2 gallons of water and 1 cup of vinegar
to neutralize
urine smell. It also helps to reduce diaper rash.
Remove water stains from
leather by rubbing with a cloth dipped in a
vinegar and water solution.
If you are letting the hem
out of some jeans and they have a white line you can remedy the problem
with vinegar. Warm up yoru iron. Dip an old toothbrush into vinegar
with a little water and scrub the white line with it. Press with the
iron. If line is still there, repeat.

Other
Miscellaneous Uses
Bring vinegar to a boil in
an old saucepan.
Reduce to simmer and place paintbrushes with hardened
paint on them in the pan.
Leave until you see paint loosen. Wash
brushes with soapy water to soften the brushes.
Pour baking soda down a
clogged drain. Add boiling vinegar to it and your drain should
unclog. If not, your clog is needing a commercial drain opener.
To tighten cane bottom or
caneback chairs sponge them with a hot solution of half vinegar and
half water. Place the chairs out in the hot sun to dry. They will
tighten back into shape.
Rub down your dogs and
cats with vinegar if they get sprayed by a skunk.
Dissolve chewing gum by
saturating the area with vinegar. I
f the vinegar is heated, it will
work faster.
Kill grass or weeds by
pouring hot vinegar over the area.
This may take a few times to work
but it is cheaper than commercial products.
Wash your windshield with
vinegar in the winter to help keep ice and frost away.
Pour vinegar around the
sides of your pool and it helps keeps flies away.
Pour 1/4 cup of cider
vinegar on grain once a day for your horses.
It keeps the flies away
from them!
Pour or wipe vinegar at
openings to your home where ants are coming in.
The residue seems to
stop them.
Pour vinegar around a
child's sandbox to reduce flies and
also deter cats from using it as a
litter box.
For one quart of water you
use to put fresh cut flowers in, add 2 tablespoons of vinegar and 1
tablespoon of sugar to the water to keep them longer.
If your vehicle smells
musty, put a bowl of vinegar inside overnight.
Close up the windows.
The next morning the musty smell should be gone.
Spray your windows screens
with white vinegar that you add a few drops of dish soap to. This will
keep gnats and other small insects away.
