WHAT'S NEW AT MCIO !

June 30, 2005
We are now half way through 2005 and this is the first entry that I have added to the newsletter this year.....since August of 2004 to be more precise. It is not that things have not been happening, we have just been sharing information through other means such as in our monthly billings and at the top of our main web page.

I know there are a lot of customers, as well as others, that like to know what is happening at MCIO and enjoy reading this newsletter, so even though I will no longer be updating this page, I will be placing important notes, happenings, plans, etc on the top of our main web page above our virus warnings. While this method will not create an archive it will have the most current and up-to-date information for you to know about.

So, to conclude my last newsletter entry.....MCIO continues to be the only locally owned and operated "full service" Internet Service Provider serving Miami County and providing dial-up access since 1996. While technology continues to change and grow we will do our best to stay up to date with that technology. It has been over a year and a half since we started offering SBC's DSL services and while I wish growth was faster, we continue to take on new DSL customers, both in the Paola as well as in the Kansas City metro area. For just over a year now we have been representing a Wichita company by selling their wireless internet access in the Louisburg and Spring Hill areas. Pixuis has plans to extend service into the Wellsville and Osawatomie areas soon. There has also recently been the appearance of another wireless company in the county but we are not familiar with their services or coverage areas or their relationship, if any, with Pixius out of Wichita.

In April we became the only Western Union Agent in Paola and second in Miami County. Moon's IGA in Osawatomie also serves as a Western Union Agent. It took a few months to get the process completed to become an Agent but we feel that it is another service that we can now provide to the public and are pleased to do so. April and May had a total of 21 Western Union transactions in the office and June numbers have increased to 24 this month alone. As the word spreads and residents notice the Western Union signs we are confident we will have even more transactions pass through each month.

In the nine plus (9+) years we have been in business we have given directions to people on the phone or that have walked into the office. We have looked up phone numbers when people have called the wrong number and given people the right number to the "other ISP" when calling us by mistake. The one that stands out the most was helping an older gentleman finish his drivers license exam and telling him where the Court House Administration Building was to renew his drivers license.

With offering our everyday services, computer repairs and upgrades plus the many extra non-business related services to the public over the years, we feel that we are truly a "full service" provider. It is our pleasure to continue to provide services to you. Thank you for your support.
