Cassoday Breakfast Ride

If you have not riden to Cassoday, Kansas on the first Sunday of every month, you better not call yourself a motorcycle enthusist. This is a must go to event. On a nice day I have seen 700-1,000 bikes there! On a Terrible day (last February) there were only about a dozen of us, but this is rare. Can usually count on at least 300 bikes there. The photo above doesn't do the crowd or the bikes justice. People come from all over Kansas, up from Oklahoma, and down from Nebraska.

This is a breakfast ride so you must get there early. People start arriving about 8:00 and are mostly gone by 12:00. A good time to arrive is about 9:00. Cassoday is located 35 miles south of Emporia on I35 Note: starting at emporia I35 is toll (cost $1.50/bike). This is a must go to event. If looking for someone to ride with there is a group that leaves at 7:00 A.M. from the McDonalds at exit 215 of I35 by the Olathe Mall. This is in the flint hills and there are several good roads and riding to and from.

This is the cafe at a rare unbusy moment. Note the wooden sidewalk and hitching posts for your horse.

This is just typical of the outstanding bikes that regularly show up. I could not begin to list the outstanding bikes I have seen there. There is no one brand or type that dominates the crowd. Expect to see a little of everything.

Another couple of nice antiques that rode in for our pleasure.
